At a county council meeting on February 21, Councillor Lewis Strange asked: "With the opening of the Sir Joseph Banks exhibition at The Collection, is it time for the Sir Joseph Banks Conservatory at The Lawn to be renovated?

"Surely, this would then be a fitting memorial to one of the county's most famous botanist and one of Lincolnshire's most famous sons.""

"As reported, the village war memorial was removed from its previous position on the side of the former Reading Room in Station Road last year, much to the dismay of residents.



The circumstances of its removal remain shrouded in mystery, with the village council confirming only that the monument is in the possession of the stonemason."

Why was the original war memorial removed?  The costs of replacing the war memorial should be paid by the culprit(s) who removed it.
